I have never seen one of these used for layered steels. You heat the stack to welding and then just squeeze it to weld it together? Does this get all the flux out from between the layers? I would guess that the press can only be used on a block that would fit under the pressure plate? Maybe 15 - 20 cm at a time? I do see you have that 50 kg mechanical hammer! I personally make my first tack weld by hand hammer on to the wired together stack of plates. I then use my own 25 kg air hammer to consoladate that initial weld and start the first part of the drawing out. Be interesting to see that press at work on a billet!
