We have been using this spoon a lot in ower ironage village, and it´s more and more butyfull after all this use. The top of the handle is very special formed, and when I came to this part of the carving I cut see that i neded a knive looking like the wellknow curved knives from the Ironage. Some time ago a forged this small blade, a replica of the comom form of knive used in the Ironage in Denmark, and I put a handle on made of elm, and just carved it in the form i wanted, and sealed it in a mix of linsead oil and beewax, - and this is the results, and it work well, as I thought.

Sponcarving vidio.
This is two small vidios were I show how to make a spoon, using my own tools, a knive and tree different ring carvingtools.
The spoon after the ruff carving with the axe, and with the small carvingknive ready to do the rest of the carving.

The results using axe, knive, ringtools and know it just have be fine carved and oild in linsead oil, before it´s ready for use.

And below my reforged axe; a comon axe forged thiner and wither, heat treaded, aneled so now it´s "just the best a man can get" for woodworking. Next to it a new spon knive made in toolsteel.

Small Ironage
inspirated knive; wave patern with seven lairs in the neck, and one piece of hard steel on the edge, and welded together in the fire, forced, filled, grinded, hardened, aneled, polished, put into acid so the different kinds of stell can be seen.
Curly birch from a local forest, deerhorn, and a piece of green hard pressed paper.

Today Is my first with my new blog, abouth old iron crafts, that have been my interest for 16 years
, starting with some months on a Danish folkhighschool; Højskolen I Thy, were I was introdused to the art of blacksmithing, and was turned on for that from the very first minut.
First of all I was facinated of making my own knives, first to forge the blade, then handle it with a nice piece of wood, form it and make a leader sheat for it.
I was just amaced, and knew at that point that this craft will be a part of the rest of my life!!
Even after all these years I´m still turned on for it, and have new ideas I have to tri out, the last thing i have done is this gasburner, and a gasforge I´w build for making paternwelding or maybe better known as Damaskus steel, it´s not the same, but very familiar to each other; more abouth that later on.
